Counseling and Mental Health Services
Counselors and mental health professionals assist children and families to promote social and emotional wellbeing. We are currently specializing in services for expectant parents and children birth to age 5. Therapies focus on teaching skills to express and regulate emotions, form trusting relationships, learning within cultural contexts while targeting children’s environments of relationships and experiences early in life.
Mental Health Concerns
Initial Therapy Session
During the initial visit, the mental health professional will conduct initial interviews with the family, observe the child and discuss treatment options. Sometimes, this may be done in a separate appointment without the child, depending on the specific needs of the family. A treatment plan will be created with you to determine the best treatment options to help your family achieve your individual goals.
Typical Therapy Session
You can expect your child's session to look and feel a lot like play. Children are engaged in fun, age-appropriate games and activities which will keep them motivated and excited to work towards their goals. In some sessions, the therapist might observe family interactions from a camera monitor and provide guidance and wording for the parents to use through a "bug in the ear" audio monitor.
